Apple announced the release of iLife '09 on Tuesday afternoon during their Macworld keynote presentation hosted by Phil Schiller. iWeb is included in the upgrade but there are little to no new features available for the app.
A few new features available are a built-in FTP. There are also redundant features available like adding YouTube video directly from iWeb where it could be done through html snippet in '08 there's other similar features that are unneeded like embedding RSS feeds, adding a countdown timer, and the ability to take a screenshot with your iSight and embed the image into iWeb directly from the app.
Embedding a countdown timer or RSS feed was possible in the past through html snippet so nothing new there and you can use photobooth to take a screenshot with your iSight and drag/drop into iWeb so nothing new there either...
The only new feature we see is the built-in FTP which doesn't warrant a $79 upgrade price if iWeb is your only concern with regard to iLife.
A few new video tutorials have been added to Apple's website and are mirrored here for convenience.
Check it out we now have a new search feature available for iWebFAQ.com
Just enter a search term into the text field to see results instantly displayed as you type!
This is hardcore coding going on ~ it's all made possible through information stored in the MySQL database and displayed through the power of spry/ajax. A special thanks goes out the dynamic power of PHP, MySQL, Spry, and Ajax coding.
Now if there's something you're searching for on iWebFAQ.com you can type in the terms into the search field and have the results of relevant tutorials instantly displayed without the need to refresh the webpage. It's a very cool feature we have just developed!!!
We also have the mac-themed spotlight search feature now available. Mouseover the spotlight icon at the top-right side of the menubar to have the spotlight search feature revealed where you can enter keywords for instant search results.
We hope everyone enjoys the new spry/ajax search features and finds (pun) them useful. Have fun with your searches and thank you for supporting iWebFAQ.com ~ the original FAQ tutorial website for iWeb.
View the demo version at http://iWebFAQ.com/coverflow where as an administrator you can visit a URL from your browser and complete a form to upload a photo, insert a title/description with URL hyperlinks that are dynamically available in the Flash CoverFlow upon form submission!
You can also delete entries by entering the URL you'd like deleted from the coverflow.
It's very easy to set up just edit a few lines of code in the package files, upload the folder to your host that supports MySQL and PHP, create a database table with a few fields and that's it! You'll then have a coverflow app on your site that you can edit or update any time from any browser. Great for photo albums, product catalogs, blog entries and more.
